Bio
2001-2007: I studied physics at Universidad Simon Bolivar (USB) in Caracas, Venezuela. For my 5th-year bachelor thesis, I went to Merida (in the Venezuelan Andes), to work at Centro de Investigaciones de Astronomia (CIDA), with A. Katherina Vivas.
2007: I obtained my degree in early 2007 and went to NASA - Goddard Space Flight Center to work for the summer with Steve Kraemer.
2007-2011: Later that year I went to the UK to start my PhD at the
University of Nottingham with
Prof. Alfonso Aragon-Salamanca. Although I spent most of my time in Nottingham, I also spent a year in Germany working with Dr. Harald Kuntschner at
ESO-Garching (under the
ESO Studentship programme), and a few months as a visitor at the astrophysics group of the University of Exeter. I finished my PhD in 2011 and got my diploma at the start of 2012.
2011-2012: At the same time I was finishing my PhD, I moved to Italy to work as a postdoctoral researcher at
INAF - Osservatorio Astronomico di Padova,
where I closely collaborated with Dr. Bianca Poggianti for over a year.
2012-2015: In November 2012 I moved to Chile to develop independent research as a FONDECYT Fellow, hosted by Dr. Ricardo Demarco at Universidad de Concepcion.
2015-2018: In 2015 I won an ESO Fellowship and moved to Santiago. My time at ESO was split between research and duties as support astronomer at the Very Large Telescope (VLT) in Paranal Observatory.
In Paranal, I operated Yepun, which is the cool AO telescope with lasers, and was Instrument Fellow of the second-generation integral field spectrograph MUSE.
2018: Joined the Institute of Physics and Astronomy (IFA) of the University of Valparaiso (UV) as staff member.
